| The wheel
The four-year training program follows the four directions
of the wind of the medicine wheel. The medicine
wheel is a circle of stones, all of them being the symbol for something.
There is a sunstone, a moonstone, a mother earth stone. All the zodiac
signs of the zodiac are included. And so on. The medicine wheel is used
for healing and connecting. Also, the four directions of the wind represent
certain powers and qualities.
The East - first year
Wonder and renewal
The first year comes from the East, representing the beginning, new life
and wonder. In this year, you will admit inside yourself the wonder about
the new things and, at the same time, create space by letting go of old
things. These can be things you do not see anymore or you are not aware
of, like fixed emotions and old enforced values and opinions.
The first year is: let go, wonder, research, renewal, the myth, and the
roots of our existence.
The south - second year
Connection and transformation
The second year comes from the South, symbolic for connection, but also
for youth, gaiety, and folly.
This year is about the connection of the new discoveries in and outside
yourself with the experiences from your “old” life.
The second year might sometimes mean confusion and insecurity. Our self-
confidence is being tested. By means of the skills you have come across
during the first year, the person you are is being touched more deeply.
Also, the group you have come to belong to during the first year is deepening.
By making contact with your ancestors and the generations before us, you
get more clarity about your authenticity and about the necessity to express
this in your life and work.
The second year is: connecting, deepening, crystallization, discovering
your own worth-ness and living it.
The west - third year
Integrating and practicing
The third year comes from the West, the direction of sunset and autumn,
of maturity and introspection, of completion and fulfilment. This year
aims at integrating the shaman’s philosophy of life and your inner
strength. In the West, we discover who we really are and we discover things
about ourselves still hidden under the hustle and bustle of our daily
existence. When we arrive in the West, we reflect on life, like at the
end of the day our thoughts return homewards. In the West, you start to
learn how to use and handle authentic powers for the greater whole and
for a social interest in groups and group processes. This year does not
have a teaching program. There is guidance by means of supervision sessions
to support the individual process, and the group comes together for deepening
and connecting, depending on the need.
The north - fourth year
Compassion and autonomy
The fourth year is the North, symbolic for actual change.
New insights and experiences have become visible and can become integrated
in society.
It is the year of exchange with your family, friends and fellow students.
It is the year of connecting to your heart. It is the year of bringing,
from all existing knowledge and from everything you come across in the
training and outside, into the community your life experience and your
new experiences. It is the year of, not only individually but also as
group, enlarging the circle in order to strengthen collective consciousness.
This year, too, consists of group meetings and individual supervision
sessions.
Each year is closed by the handing out of a certificate.
In the fourth year, there is a possibility of fulfilling a final task,
with which you conclude the training in a ceremonial way and receive a
diploma.
Every year knows its own cycle of the medicine wheel.
So does every weekend. Besides, each student and each teacher brings along
the cycle of his personal wheel. A cycle goes on forever: every year,
every season, every month, every week, every day......
